Welcome to 2017!

The AIAVC Board would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our AIA, Associates and Allied members to a 2017 full of activities and networking opportunities.  I am Claudia Pedroso, AIA, and I will be serving as your 2017 President for the AIA Ventura County Chapter.  New to our Board are Mark Di Cecco, AIA, as our new Vice President, and Robert Trentham, as our new Administrative Assistant, and they are looking forward to meeting all of you.  Our returning Board Members are Bill Amador, AIA, our Treasurer, Jean Amador, AIA, our Secretary, Mary Follenweider, AIA, our Architect Member Director, Darwin McCredie, AIA, our AIA/California Council Delegate Director and Leo Trebels, Associate AIA, our Associate Director.

We are putting together exciting Lunch and Learn sessions for this year, which are being held every second Wednesday of each month, our fun Pub Nights that are held every other month at local establishments, our annual Scholarship Fundraiser event in the summertime, and the AIAVC Awards Ceremony in December.  That’s right; get those projects photographed.  These are great activities for all members to enjoy, so check out our Calendar on www.aiavc.org for the time and place of events.  Also, let students know that the AIAVC Scholarship applications are available now, with March 31, 2017 being the deadline to submit the applications to be considered for the 2017 year.

We are working towards our 3-year Accreditation for the Chapter, and while going through the process, we are improving the services we provide to our members.  We have joined forces with Southern California Edison to provide more Continuing Education opportunities to meet our LU/CES requirements.  We are implementing more Allied Member opportunities with different membership levels that provide exposure of their industry to all members.  We want to recognize and thank Coast Reprographics – our first Corporate Allied Member.  We are also updating our website so that you have more instant information on events, AIA National learning opportunities and overall information about our communities and fellow Architects.

Check out www.aiavc.org  for updates on activities and information, and look for our AIAVC emails.  I look forward to seeing you at our events!

Claudia Pedroso, AIA

AIAVC President
